The administration of the Media Support Fund visited Kaunas on April 4 to participate in the Forum for Sustainable Cultural Development and to meet with the creators of audiovisual production in Kaunas region. The Fund’s administration team had the honour to participate in the Cultural Development Forum ‘2024’ organised by the Culture Council.
The event featured presentations on culture in the regions, the role of the non-governmental sector and local artists, and funding aspects. It is important to mention that the presentation by Margus Allikmaa, Director of the Estonian Cultural Foundation(Kultuurikapital), was particularly useful and interesting, summarising Estonian cultural funding priorities and the cultural field as a whole, drawing on good practice and ideas. MRF Director Ruslanas Iržikevičius had the opportunity to discuss with Margus Allikmaa the similarities and differences between the MRF and the Estonian Cultural Support Fund. Many thanks to the Lithuanian Council for Culture for such a great event.
The MRF administration also met with the region’s audiovisual producers and broadcasters in Kaunas. The meeting was attended by representatives from Marijampolė TV, Pūko TV, VŠĮ Baltų Atlantida, TV7, AVVA, INIT and Interbanga. The expectations and proposals of Kaunas region creators were listened to and heard. The Fund is open to discussion with all Lithuanian producers and disseminators of public information and is planning similar trips.
