On 10 June, representatives of the Media Support Fund (hereinafter referred to as the Fund) Council and administration visited Kretinga, where they met with publishers and editorial representatives of periodicals in the region. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation with regional media, hear the needs of publishers, and discuss current issues related to the Fund’s activities and support for the press.
The meeting was attended by the Chair of the Fund’s Council, Vaiva Žukienė, the Deputy Chair, Rasa Navickienė, the Fund’s Administrative Director, Ruslanas Iržikevičius, Senior Project Manager, Reda Sopranaitė, and Advisor, Ramona Žalakevičienė.
During the visit, representatives of Western Lithuania’s media listened to their observations, expectations, and suggestions for improving the Fund’s activities. They discussed practical issues faced by publishers when preparing projects for funding by the Fund. The Fund’s representatives presented the planned changes – new rules for submitting projects for funding and a special programme being developed to compensate for lost revenue related to restrictions on gambling advertising in the media.
“Such regional meetings help Fund representatives to understand the local media situation better, strengthen mutual dialogue and contribute to the creation of a more transparent, effective and responsive funding model for the media community,” said Ruslanas Iržikevičius, Director of the Media Support Fund.
The meeting also focused on the procedure for publishing content in the Fund’s content bank, explaining the requirements, the benefits for both publishers and readers, and the opportunities for national dissemination of content.
The Fund’s representatives plan to continue visiting the regions and engaging in direct dialogue with local media communities.
