The Fund is delighted with the publications and journalistic investigations that received support this year and their significant impact on society

On 16 May, two journalists and friends of the Lithuanian language were honoured at the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University. On Press Restoration, Language and Book Day, the Lithuanian Language Society (LKD) selected Oksana Mazur, founder, publisher and editor of the magazine “Jurbarko laikas”, as a friend of language in the regional media journalists’ group, and Milda Matulaitytė-Feldhausen, a journalist, as a language friend in the national media journalists’ group.

We are delighted that the favourable assessment and funding from the Media Support Fund Council enabled the continued publication of Jurbarko laikas. Although the magazine is niche, targeting the Jurbarkas region, it is increasingly receiving favourable reviews at the national level.

Journalist Milda Matulaitytė-Feldhausen received an investigative journalism scholarship from the Media Support Fund.

Another piece of good news is that the Ministry of Finance, together with the Lithuanian Journalists’ Union (LŽS), has announced the winners of the annual creative competition “EU Investments in Lithuania”. The winners are Tomas Janonis, Gabrielė Navickaitė, Birutė Davidonytė and Ignas Kinčinas as the winners of the yearly creative works competition “EU Investments in Lithuania,” organised by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the Lithuanian Journalists’ Union (LŽS). They were also awarded investigative journalism scholarships from the Media Support Fund.

It has been an excellent month for MRF-supported publications and journalists!
